Equine Photographers Network Summer Solstice Project

Equine Photographers Network is a great source for photography of all things horse.  I strongly encourage you to check it out.  They sponsored a current project entitled, "Summer Solstice."  The objective was to capture the relationship between horse and environment on June 21, 2011 - Summer Solstice.  Some of you will be shocked to learn I was actually "horseless" on that specific day.  My original intention was to document one of my favorite horses and his master, at day's end, to celebrate the longest day of the year, but alas, I was surrounded by roses instead.  I am pretty sure that disqualifies me.  Ya think?  I hope others "rose" to the occasion.  I am anxious to see what everyone found.  Be sure to stop by
www.equinephotographers.org for all the results.

2011 Highway 50 Wagon Train Photos Are Now Available!!!

I just spent the most incredible week of my life with the 62nd Annual Highway 50 Wagon Train.  It was my first time, but I certainly hope it won't be my last.  Beginning in Stateline, Nevada and ending in Placerville, California, it covered some of the most beautiful scenery in the area.  We had rain, and snow, and hail, and thunderstorms, a rainbow, and finally some beautiful sunny weather.  Camping was a bit of a challenge, especially when we awoke to snow on our tent.  There were reports of us trapped in the Sierras, and the Donner Party was mentioned more than once, must I must confess I spent the layover day drying my boots in front of the fire, snuggled in with good friends at Strawberry Lodge.  Riding in the wagon over Echo Summit was definitely a high point of the journey, but there was much to be learned all along the way.  I came away with a much better appreciation for our ancestors who came before us, with the vision to dream of The West.  I met some new friends, and a few interesting characters.  I got to spend time with dear friends, and wrangled our dogs.  I even found time to take a picture or two.  It was a heck of an adventure!!!

If you would like to check out some photos, I finally have them posted on my gallery.  If you are interested in prints, enlargements, or specialty items, contact me directly at 775-315-3994 with the image numbers and mention you read this blog.  I will honor event discount prices through the end of July.  You can find the images at:
