Beautiful vista from the trail in Hazen, Nevada.
My Memorial Day Weekend was spent among friends and family in Hazen this year at NEDA's Annual Black Butte Endurance Ride. Although it was a small turn out, with only 12 riders and drivers, it was a whole lot of fun. I got to head out the night before and see some of the spectacular trail and enjoy dinner at the Black Bear Dinner in Fernley with Steven Thompson and some of his family, friend Red Black, and even my Mom, who was visiting from Texas. Tent camping that night was exciting, including a call at 2:00 am from the tent next door - "Kitty, it's Mom. Could you please come get the tent off my head?" At least she is a good sport. She is already looking forward to next year!
The wind died down, and the weather was beautiful for the ride Monday morning. I hiked a half mile into a canyon to get some amazing shots! Afterwards, everyone enjoyed a spaghetti dinner and some great company. Now, off to Winnemucca on Thursday!
Always fun to camp at Hazen!
