NEDA Frenchman Ride Photos Are Now Available

Steven Thompson on Pikhante

Just back from another great weekend of camping with Steven Thompson and his NEDA group.  This was my second year at Frenchman's, and it was a lot of fun.  Last year, it was cold and it rained on Sunday, so just a hint of night time moisture this year seemed not so bad!  For anyone who hasn't been, it is definitely worth checking out.  Thank you to Ride Managers Holly, Jan, & ET for having me out, and to Steven for helping me find "the spot," and for supplying the power.  As always, it was a blast.

For anyone interested in seeing the photos, they are now up.

CSHA Trail Trial Photos Now Available

Trail Trial in Groveland, CA

After driving all night from NEDA's Night Rider, we arrived in Groveland, California at 6:15am, with just enough time for an hour nap.  Boy was it worth the drive though!  This was our second year to photograph this event, and I am excited to announce we will be on hand for both days next year.  What a beautiful location!  Thanks to Nellie for sharing her lovely property and for finding us such a great spot to photograph.  Trish and Mike, you guys are awesome for getting us there and for spreading the word about Projections Photography.  We even got to visit with Nita & Chuck, who also came over from Nevada.  It was nice to see some familiar faces and to make lots of new acquaintances.  Not only was it a stunning location, with great food, and fun people, but the event was well organized and ran very smoothly.  Thanks so much to everyone for having us out.  Special thank you to Nellie & her husband for letting us crash in your camper.  It was a fabulous weekend, but we were exhausted.  All rested up now and ready to go again.  We hit the road Friday morning!

NEDA Night Rider Photos Are Now Available

Steven Thompson Driving Ebony

Talk about a whirlwind weekend... it all started with NEDA's Night Rider on Saturday in Silver Springs.  What a beautiful night it was under the light of the full moon!  Several groups took advantage of the date, causing a lower turn-out than usual, but it was fun to visit with everyone who attanded.  What more could you ask than great company and a gorgeous night?  Special, heartfelt thank you to Steven for putting up with me, or I never would have made it to Groveland's 8:00am start.  Still think I could have squeezed a couple more events in there this weekend!

Sierra Ghost Riders Wagon Train Photos Are Now Available

I had the privilege of attending Sierra Ghost Riders' Wagon Train last week.  Thanks to Steven Thompson for inviting me to tag along and to Terry & Jerry Myers for putting up with me for a week.  This was only my second wagon train, and mostly I felt in the way, but everyone was very friendly and hospitable.  It was great to see some familiar faces from the Highway 50 Wagon Train, and I met lots of new people as well.  It was such a blast to ride in the wagon.  The more I learn, the more impressed I become.  Gizmo survived a tumble from the wagon while it was rolling.  I guess he is working on his reputation as a "real dog."  I managed to escape with only minimal damage to the rental car, and no flat tire.  Seems like I was one of the few to avoid that particular malady.  I really enjoyed the historic route we took along Highway 50 in June, but this trip was all back country, through the pines, past lakes, and along winding paths.  It was nice to be out in nature.  I missed one day of the journey, because I had to come back to do a presentation on the previous  wagon train, and everyone was excited to know details of this trip too.  I am sure I will be asked to share events from this one as well in the future.  By far, my favorite part was Play Day during the layover.  It was very cool to see riders and drivers alike working their way through the obstacles.  Scott's favorite part was the party at the end of the trail.  Food, music, people, more food - he was in heaven.  He even got to ride.  Thanks to Garth for not dumping him and to Steven for bringing him back alive.  The Myers Family apparently wanted to keep their jinks tradition alive.  Jerry made it through with only minor unmentionable issues, but Terry was the one Carol had to watch over this year.  Thanks so much to you and Rachel for being life savers.  It was a pleasure to meet Terry's family and to hang out.  I think Annette Nylander did a great job as Wagon Master.  If you haven't ever participated, and you get the chance, I would strongly recommend checking out a wagon train.  Thanks everyone!

Presentation on Highway 50 Wagon Train Was a Big Hit!

Scott delivered a presentation to the Dayton Valley Photo Club on Friday night at the country club.  He briefly covered the details of planning such an involved photo endeavor, work flow, post production efforts, and marketing, but the main focus was on the Wagon Train itself, all the amazing animals, and the interesting characters who make it all possible.  He distributed brochures for the event and strongly encouraged everyone to come out and support the Wagon Train in 2012.  A twenty-five minute DVD of Wagon Train highlights was played, and many interesting questions were presented by the audience.

I would like to extend a special thank you my good friend Steven Thompson, who introduced us to the event and put up with us for a week, and to Jerry & Terry Myers for letting us tag along.  We met so many wonderful people along the way.  Thanks to everyone at the Highway 50 Wagon Train.  Hope to see you all again next year!

NEDA Ice Cream Social Photos Are Now Are Now Available

Steven Thompson driving Bonnie & Misty

What a busy week it has been.  NEDA hosted its annual Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at Steven Thompson's place in Silver Springs, Nevada.  It was a real pleasure for me to ride in Steven's wagon, as a participant.  I am pretty sure I'm officially addicted!  Some amazing pictures from that viewpoint.  I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.  It was nice to see so  many friends and to meet some new ones as well.  As always, I was impressed with the efficiency and organization of NEDA.  It takes a lot of volunteers to make these events a success.  I have never left a NEDA event hungry, and this was no exception.  The weather was interesting - we even had a rainbow.  Thanks so much to everyone who made the Ice Cream Social possible this year.
